What We Collect
MinouChat collects the minimum data necessary to provide the service:
- Account information: Email address, display name (via Clerk authentication)
- Conversations: Messages you send and receive within the app
- Learned facts: Information the AI extracts from conversations (your preferences, goals, etc.)
- Documents: Files you upload for document-aware chat
- Settings: Your model preferences, theme, and app configuration
How Your Data is Stored
All user data is stored in a SQLite database on the server. We do not sell, share, or monetize your data in any way.
- Conversations and facts are stored server-side and associated with your account
- Documents are stored on the server filesystem and processed for search indexing
- Authentication is handled by Clerk, a third-party auth provider
LLM Provider Data
When you chat, your messages are sent to an AI language model provider to generate responses. The provider used depends on the server configuration:
- OpenRouter: Acts as a proxy to various AI models. Providers receive your prompts and model parameters but not your identity
- OpenAI: Messages are processed per OpenAI's data usage policy
- Anthropic: Messages are processed per Anthropic's data usage policy
We recommend reviewing each provider's privacy policy for details on how they handle data.
Incognito Mode
MinouChat offers an incognito mode for sensitive conversations:
- Messages are not saved to the database
- No fact extraction occurs
- No memory storage happens
- Messages exist only for the current session and are lost when you leave
Note: even in incognito mode, messages are still sent to the LLM provider to generate responses.
Your Rights
You have full control over your data:
- View: See all learned facts on the Memory page
- Edit: Correct any fact the AI has learned
- Delete conversations: Remove individual conversations and their associated data
- Delete account: Remove your account and ALL associated data from Settings
